A National level project aimed at high density afforestation of medicinal and herbal plants was inaugurated at Mayyil on 8th April 2021. The project is being executed under the leadership of the office of Southern Regional cum Facilitation Center of National Medicinal Plants Board.
At a function held at the premises of Itoozhi Ayurveda Foundation & Charitable Trust, the project was inaugurated by CEO of NMPB Mr J L N Shastri. Inaugurating the project, he opined that Malabar region has tremendous opportunities in the field of Herbal medicinal farming, something that can be carried in sync with natural high density farming that happens in the region.
Presided by Dr Itoozhi Bhavadasan Namboothiri, the event was graced by MD of Ousadhi Mr. K V Uthaman, Dr N Padmakumar (Asst Advisor – NMPB) and Mr Sunil Dutt (Research officer). Dr K C Chacko delivered the presentation. Mayyil Grama Panchayat President Ms K K Rishna, Dr Itoozhi Unnikrishnan Namboothiri, Dr Sujanapal, E M Suresh, Babu Baburaj, P K Balakrishnan and V O Prabhakaran also spoke on the occasion.
