Long silky strong hair, this is what we all wish for. Ayurveda has always emphasized on oil treatments, whether that be for hair or body. Oiling also helps to improve the quality of sleep, calms your mind and helps to get rid of dandruff. Ayurveda actually specifies on a proper way to apply oil in your hair and it depends on your need.
Here are some ways to apply hair oil for different reasons:
- For hair quality: For improving quality of hair, massage your strands properly with coconut or mustard oil at night before going to bed and wash it in the morning. Apply oil to the scalp, roots, and length of the hair. You can also heat the oil a bit and apply it to your scalp.
- To remove dandruff: If you are suffering from dandruff, apply oil in your scalp every day. Neem oil is considered good to get rid of dry and itchy scalp. Do this an hour before taking bath and wash your hair with warm water.
- To get relief from headache: As per Ayurveda, a headache is usually associated with vata, and evening time of the day is dominated by vata. Hence the preferred time to apply oil in the hair if you are suffering from headache is 6 pm.
- For good sleep: To get good sleep, massage your hair half an hour before going to bed and use sesame oil for best results.
