Dr Itoozhi Unnikrishnan Namboothiri‘s research paper on “Ayurvedic Approach to Glaucoma” at the 18th Asia Pacific Ophthalmologists Annual Meeting, held from 29-30 July 2019 at Melbourne, Australia earned critical acclaim and praise for its daringly fresh approach and perspective.

The research focused on the various ways in which Ayurveda can effectively address and stop the progressive blindness caused by Glaucoma in adults. The method, using the juice extract of the commonly known Thazhuthama herb ( Boerhaavia Diffusa) helped control intra-ocular pressure and controlling Glaucoma, has now been published in the leading international medical journals , especially those related to Ophthalmology.
