As the world celebrates World Forestry Day or International Day of Forests, committing collectively to increase public awareness among communities about the values, significance and contributions of the forests to balance the life cycle on the earth, at Itoozhi Ayurveda, it has been no different.
A tradition that has Nature at the heart of it, it is only natural that conserving, nurturing and nourishing our immediate eco-system comes second nature to each one associated with the Itoozhi Foundation. Through establishing Kannur’s own Herbal Park, awareness workshops and community level medicianl herb gardens in the district to Yoga interactives, our effort has been to ensure that the existing and future generations assimilate respect and care for the environment that supports each one of us.
Amidst this, it becomes a matter of pride as the State government honors one of our own with its nomination as a Citizen Conservator of Forests, as recommended by the Social Forestry Wing of the kerala Forestry Department. For those who haven’t heard about the program, it aims to recognise, support and seek the services of citizens and citizen groups who actively participate in conservation and enhancement of biodiversity outside forests. In this regard, each Citizen Conservator that the department has identified, would demonstrate his/her ability to protect and conserve biological species to others.
Congratulations, Dr I Unnikrishnan Namboothiri, for having been a source of constant inspiration to the community, for initiatives that help provide safe habitat for species, long-term sustainability of habitats, creating awareness about the relevance of conservation, being a role model and drawing the attention of all citizens towards conservation are the objectives of the conservation programme.
